On Monday, November 25, the members of Patriots for Liberty & Constitution will be discussing Federalist Paper 40.
The group meets starting at 6:30 p.m. on Monday evenings at Mountain Valley Baptist Church, 202 S. 7th Avenue in Pocatello.
The event notes read:
Next Monday, we will be discussing FEDERALIST 40.
In Federalist 40, Madison is going to try to defend against what is one of the most significant and consequential complaints lodged against the Federalists by the Anti-Federalists during the ratification contest, namely: by what authority they wrote an entirely new constitution, instead of just offering amendments to the existing Articles of Confederation. Madison’s tone clearly shifts and the fire and brimstone emitting from his pen is palpable. Will Madison emerge as the victor against this charge, or fail to win the day? The full weight of his debate skills will be on display, and opening up his argument is sure to be electric and enlightening!
We are also reading The Constitution line by line. This week we will be reading Article 1, Section 4: Elections.
