(City of Pocatello Press Release, January 6, 2026)
The City of Pocatello is planning to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. As part of the celebration, the City has been awarded a grant from the State of Idaho to create a time capsule.
To oversee the project, the City is forming the Pocatello America250 Ad Hoc Committee and is seeking interested citizens to serve. This volunteer committee of nine will work to identify a location for the time capsule and items to be included, as well as plan the community celebration to dedicate the time capsule.
Meeting dates and times are to be determined by the committee. The work will be completed by the end of July 2026.
Interested persons living within the Pocatello city limits can obtain an application to serve by contacting the Mayor’s Office at 911 North 7th Avenue, visiting the Advisory Committees link at pocatello.gov or by calling 208-234-6163.
Applications must be received by January 23, 2026.
