National Park Service Invites Americans to Honor Memorial Day in National Parks Across the Country

Memorial Day entrance fees waived for U.S. residents at participating national parks

WASHINGTON — This Memorial Day, the National Park Service invites Americans to spend time in the places where our nation’s stories of service, sacrifice and remembrance live on.

At Andersonville National Historic Site, visitors can take part in a Memorial Day ceremony and flag placement on May 23, followed by Taps Across America in the national cemetery on Memorial Day.
At Vicksburg National Military Park, park staff and volunteers will place flags in he national cemetery and host commemorative programs throughout Memorial Day weekend as part of the nation’s 250th anniversary year.
At Antietam National Battlefield and other national cemeteries across the park system, staff, volunteers and community members will continue the tradition of placing American flags at gravesites and gathering for moments of remembrance.
In Washington, visitors can spend the day at iconic memorials honoring generations of Americans who served, including the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, the Korean War Veterans Memorial and the World War II Memorial.

With more than 400 national park sites across the country, there are countless ways to spend Memorial Day in places that connect us to America’s history, ideals and enduring spirit.
