This Independence Day carries special meaning as we prepare to celebrate America 250, the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. For nearly two and a half centuries, the United States has stood as the greatest nation on earth because it was built on liberty, faith, personal responsibility, limited government, and the belief that our rights come from God, not from government.
On July 4th, we remember the courage of our Founding Fathers, who risked their lives, fortunes, and sacred honor to declare independence from tyranny. They understood that freedom is precious, and that it must be defended by each generation. John Adams once warned, “Liberty, once lost, is lost forever.” That reminder is just as important today as it was at the founding of our nation.
America has been blessed because of the principles our Founders put in place: constitutional government, individual rights, religious freedom, private property, and the rule of law. These principles have allowed families to thrive, businesses to grow, communities to prosper, and citizens to pursue the American Dream.
As we approach America’s 250th birthday, we should not only celebrate our history, but recommit ourselves to preserving it. Our children and grandchildren deserve to inherit a nation that still values freedom, honors faith, respects the Constitution, and protects the God given rights of the people.
Here in Idaho, we understand the importance of hard work, strong families, local control, and standing up for what is right. These are the values that built America, and they are the values that will keep America strong.
This Independence Day, let us celebrate with gratitude for those who came before us, pride in the country we love, and a renewed commitment to defend liberty for the next generation.
Happy Independence Day, and may God continue to bless Idaho and the United States of America.
