Drivers and pedestrians both have a role in keeping crosswalks safe.
Pedestrians:
• Use designated crosswalks whenever possible.
• Look both ways before crossing.
• Stay alert and avoid distractions.
• Make sure approaching vehicles see you before stepping into the roadway.
Drivers:
• Slow down near crosswalks.
• Watch carefully for pedestrians.
• Be prepared to stop.
• Never pass another vehicle that has stopped for a pedestrian.
Whether you’re walking or driving, pay attention and give each other space.
