Is It Time to Take a Fresh Look at Homeschooling?

Many conservative and Christian parents are taking a second look at homeschooling!
Not because public school teachers don’t care, but because they are concerned about the direction of national education policy, teachers unions, and their agendas.
At its 2026 Representative Assembly, the National Education Association (NEA) adopted or reaffirmed positions supporting expanded LGBTQ+ guidance in schools, opposition to school choice and voucher programs, increased political organizing, and advocacy on a variety of social policy issues beyond traditional academics. This includes helping to organize the nationwide “No Kings Day” protests and participating in other large-scale demonstrations and labor actions. The organization also recently approved additional funding for legislative and political campaigns, and recruited candidates to run against many of the conservative legislators in Idaho.
In their last newsletter, Issues in Education raised a relevant question:
“Is it a surprise that after 16,000 hours of K-12 indoctrination, kids come out of public schools hating capitalism and their own country; disdaining Christianity and turning to communism?”
For parents who believe schools should focus primarily on academics rather than political advocacy, these developments may be another reason to consider whether homeschooling is the right fit for their family.
The simple question to ask is: Who should have the greatest influence over my child’s values and worldview?
For families who want their children educated from a biblical perspective, homeschooling has never been more accessible. Today’s curriculum options are academically rigorous, easy to use, and designed to help parents integrate faith into every subject.
The Foundations Bible Curriculum featured above is just one example of a Christian curriculum created to help students develop a biblical worldview while providing age-appropriate lessons for kindergarten through third grade. There are many other examples of Christian and classical curriculums to teach your children.
Parents have both the privilege and the responsibility to train their children. As Proverbs 22:6 reminds us:
“Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.”
Idaho has some of the most flexible home school laws in the country. Idaho requires no notification, registration, teacher qualifications, standardized testing, or mandatory record-keeping.

This video, along with Idaho’s tax credit for families to educate their children how they see best, is a winning combination for parents who are concerned with the state’s public education’s influence over your child.
