POCATELLO, ID— Next Wednesday may be a virtual learning day for many high school learners because of the PSAT, but for PCSD 25 seniors, October 14 will be spent turning plans into action at the district’s annual Senior KickStart. Held at the Portneuf Valley Technical Education and Career Campus (PV-TEC), 4200 Hawthorne Road, from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Senior KickStart gives learners planning to graduate in 2027 dedicated time and support to take meaningful next steps toward college, career, training and life after high school.
At the Senior KickStart, seniors and their families are invited to come at a time that works for them on October 14 and take advantage of the opportunity to plan ahead with a whole team of experts and advisors to help and guide the way. The entire day is open for possibility!
Consider:
If you plan on career-technical education or training, this is the event for you.
If you plan on applying to any of the Idaho colleges or universities, this is the event for you.
If you want to speak with military recruiters, this is the event for you.
If you’d like advice about whether to apply to Idaho Launch or the Idaho Opportunity Scholarship, this is the event for you.
If you’re interested in applying to private colleges (College of Idaho, Westminster University, BYU-I), this is the event for you.
Representatives at this year’s event will include Idaho State’s Financial Aid Office, ISU’s College of Technology, Storm Jansson from the Office of the State Board of Education, and additional college admissions representatives. They will join PCSD 25’s high school college career advisors and other school district staff to answer questions and provide support.
In less than two hours, a 2027 grad can accomplish the bulk of their important senior to-do list: applications completed, inquiries asked, scholarships applied for, and the all-important FAFSA—DONE!. And that will feel so good – for the seniors and their families.
Seniors can learn more about their next steps in the months ahead, as well as valuable first-year academic and training programs after high school, such as Bengal Bridge and TRiO.
The senior year goes by in a flash, so mark your calendars for October 14. A brief orientation to the tables and tasks be offered on the hour from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm; however, seniors and families are welcome to come as their schedules allow. We encourage students to attend with a parent or guardian, if possible, so that the FAFSA can be fully submitted. Those arriving between orientations can simply get started by visiting the tables and talking with representatives and school district staff.
Our goal is for students graduating in 2027 from Pocatello’s four high schools—Pocatello, Century, New Horizon, and Highland—to get important senior-year items accomplished. Event details are included below. We look forward to seeing seniors and their families at PV-TEC on October 14. Questions may be directed to college career advisors at any of PCSD 25’s high schools.
