Today, President Joe Biden announced several actions he wants to see taken on gun control.
Biden announced that he is seeking the following:
Treatment of “ghost guns” as firearms under the Gun Control Act
Have the Justice Department issue a new annual report on firearms trafficking
Make pistols with stabilizing braces subject to the National Firearms Act
Implementation of a National, “Red Flag Law,” and incentives for States to implement red flag laws.
In addition, Biden said, “I believe the Senate should immediately pass three House-passed bills to close loopholes that allow gun purchases — purchasers to bypass the background checks.” He went on to state, “We should also ban assault weapons and high-capacity magazines in this country.”
Biden then called on the elimination of immunity for gun manufacturers. He said, “And we should also eliminate gun manufacturers from the immunity they received from the Congress.”
With respect to Constitutional issues related to his program, Biden said, “Everything that’s being proposed today is totally consistent with the Second Amendment.”
In concluding his remarks, Biden said, “So, folks, this is just the start. We’ve got a lot of work to do.”
