The Idaho Gold Star Families Memorial Monument Dedication will take place this Friday, May 28, at 1:00 p.m. at 1775 Gold Star Drive in Pocatello.
In-person seating at the site of the Memorial Monument is by invitation only. However, the dedication will be broadcast live on an 18-foot LED screen at the Portneuf Wellness Complex Amphitheatre at 2375 Olympus Drive. The ceremony can also be viewed live on YouTube.
Parking is available at the west end of the Portneuf Wellness Complex main parking lot. Those attending should plan to enter via Fairgrounds Road off Venture Way (formerly E. Chubbuck Road). Buses will be available to visit the monument following the dedication. Those wishing to attend are advised to arrive early.
This will be the first Gold Star Families Memorial Monument in Idaho. It will honor and remember the fallen and their families, who bear the loss of a loved one in military service to our nation and the preservation of our freedom. The monument will be a permanent tribute to our brave service men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation, and a witness to the loss borne by the loved ones they left behind.
