June 14, 2021

Today, Monday, June 14, 2021 is Flag Day.

Flag Day is a day of national observance for all Americans, even though it is not a federal holiday.  Americans are encouraged to display the flag outside their homes and businesses.  Flag day commemorates the adoption by the Second Continental Congress of the U.S. flag on June 14, 1777.  In 1916, President Woodrow Wilson issued a proclamation officially designating June 14 as Flag Day.  In 1949, National Flag Day was established by an Act of Congress.

The Pocatello-Chubbuck Observer is proud to honor the U.S. Flag today, on Flag Day, and every day.
