Mar-a-Lago, FL–In a speech puncuated by cheers and chants of “Trump” and “USA”, President Donald J. Trump addressed the nation last night from Mar-a-Lago.  “America’s comeback starts right now,” he said early in his speech.  “Under my leadership, we were a strong nation, and importantly, a free nation”.  He then listed this country’s current woes: high inflation, an energy crisis, a southern border that has been “erased” and is “totally porous” as drugs flood in, the disaster in Afghanistan, “perhaps the most embarrassing moment in the history of our country”, the Ukrainian conflict.  “Our enemies are speaking of us with scorn and laughter and derision,” Trump said.  “America has been mocked, derided, and brought to its knees like never before, but we are here to declare that it does not have to be this way.  Two years ago we were a great nation, and soon we will be a great nation again…decline is not a fate we must accept.”

Before making his big announcement, Trump addressed the lackluster midterm results.  “Despite the outcome in the Senate, we must not lose hope…breaking the Radical Democrats’ grip on Congress was crucial,” he said.  “This was not the end, it was only the beginning of our fight to rescue the American dream.”

“In order to make America great and glorious again, I am tonight announcing my candidacy for president of the United States,” he went on.  “I am running because I believe the world has not yet seen the true glory of what this nation can be.”  He then explained that this fight is not a job for a single politician, but rather a movement of tens of millions of people of every age, ethnicity, and profession.  He vowed to promote unity through success among Americans of all parties, because this movement is about love of America rather than party politics.  He promised to run a campaign built on issues, vision, and success.  “This will not be my campaign, this will be our campaign all together,” he said.  “We will again put America first!”

After the 2024 election, Trump promised early action to control the border, stop the violence in inner cities, dismantle the gangs that plague American cities, and end the influx of fentanyl.  He also promised to fix America’s education system and defend families and parental rights.  He vowed to remove leftist ideology from the military, and to rehire those who lost their military positions due to COVID mandates, with an apology and full back pay.  On the topic of wars, he said he would keep America out of “foolish and unnecessary foreign wars.  We will again have peace through strength”.  He also promised a top to bottom overhaul to clean corruption out of D.C. and end the weaponization of the justice system.  Finally, he promised to restore election integrity.  “We will do whatever it takes to bring back confidence in our elections,” he said, stressing the need for voter ID, same day voting, paper ballots only, and prompt vote-counting.  “This is just the beginning of our national greatness agenda,” Trump stated.  “Our country can be greater than it ever was before.”

In closing, Trump declared, “This is not a campaign–this is a quest to save our country.  Together, we will make America powerful again.  We will make America wealthy again.  We will make America strong again.  We will make Ameria proud again.  We will make America safe again.  We will make America glorious again.  And we will make America great again!”
