(Blackfoot Police Department Press Release, September 9, 2026)
On 09/05/2026 at approximately 2313 hours, officers from the Blackfoot Police Department and deputies from the Bingham County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to North Maple Street, just south of the Eastern Idaho State Fairgrounds, for a report of a fight involving multiple individuals and a possible stabbing.
Upon arrival, officers and deputies located the altercation and began detaining the involved parties, several of whom attempted to flee. Officers and detectives interviewed those involved and witnesses. They learned the dispute began as two groups exited the fairgrounds. One group reportedly made gang‑related comments toward the other after being asked to move out of the roadway, which led to a physical altercation. Officers recovered several weapons and a firearm from individuals involved. It was later confirmed that the stabbing did not occur.
Multiple people sustained minor injuries and were treated at the scene. A juvenile male was transported via ambulance to a local hospital with serious injuries and was later released.
Following the initial investigation, authorities arrested Papa Sagapolutele (21) of Blackfoot for Aggravated Battery, Resisting and Obstructing Officers, and Destruction of Evidence. Kaleb Cutler (22) of Pocatello was also arrested for Aggravated Battery, Resisting and Obstructing Officers, and Destruction of Evidence. Both were booked into the Bingham County Jail. Detectives with the Bingham Joint Investigation Unit are additionally seeking to speak with Danion A. Hernandez Jr. (18) of Pocatello regarding his involvement in the altercation. Police urge Danion to contact them regarding his involvement in this incident. If you know Danion’s whereabouts, please contact law enforcement.
