(Idaho Power News Brief, September 8, 2026)
September is National Preparedness Month, and although Idaho Power keeps the lights on 99.9% of the time, the energy company reminds everyone to prepare for the unexpected.
Start by assembling a home emergency outage kit that includes flashlights, blankets, bottled water, and canned food. Also ensure you know how to manually open and close garage doors and security gates, and have a plan for any unique needs such as medical supplies or well water. See additional tips for vulnerable populations on the Idaho Power website.
Download the company’s free mobile app to sign up for outage-related push notifications, view the outage map, and track your power status. The outage map is also available at idahopower.com/outage.
If the power does go out, avoid opening fridge and freezer doors so your food stays cold longer.
