Republican Senators earlier today put a stop to an attempt by Democrats to rig state and federal elections in their favor through an abuse of federal power, stopping the ironically named “For the People Act” dead in its tracks.
Senator Mitch McConnell, in describing the bill, S-1, said it “would let Democrats take a red pen to election laws in each of the 50 states, neutering popular precautions like voter I.D. while legalizing shady practices like ballot harvesting across the board.”
Democrats have been saying the bill is about, “voting rights” and takes a stand against, “voter suppression.” However, as GOP strategist Matt Whitlock noted, Republicans reject the bill because it provides for taxpayer funded campaigns, gutting voter I.D., mandates ballot harvesting, and politicizes the FEC.
