  • Slow down
  • Look for children in school zones
  • Put the phone away while operating a vehicle
  • Stop for buses loading and unloading students
  • Watch for posted speed limits, warning signs, and traffic signals

*Pocatello Police Officers will monitor school zones and bus stop locations throughout the city.

Current fines for traffic violations in a school zone within the city limits of Pocatello:

  • Speeding in a School Zone: $156.50
  • Fail to Yield for a Pedestrian: $90.00
  • School Bus Stop Arm Violation: Misdemeanor Citation
  • Distracted Driving by use of a Mobile Electronic Device:
    • 1st offense: $131.50
    • 2nd offense within three years: $206.50
    • 3rd offense within three years: $356.50
