(Bannock County, September 6, 2022)

It was another successful year for the Bannock County Fair and Rodeo.
For more than 100 years, people from all over Southeast Idaho have traveled to Bannock County Fairgrounds in Downy to attend the fair. And it seems the magic of the small-town country fair still resonates, as the 2022 fair attracted an estimated 32,000 people to Downey.
In addition to the classic fair events, such as the parade, potato bar, and rodeo, there were several new fan favorites added this year. For the first time ever, the Bannock County Fair hosted a Demolition Derby, which brought a swell of first-time fair-goers to Downey. In fact, so many attended the rodeos and derby this year, that stadium seating was at full capacity with only standing room available.
Keeping with the 2022 theme “Idaho Pride, County Wide,” Idaho native Muzzy Braun brought some Americana flair to the entertainment stage. Attendees also enjoyed the Eagles tribute band, “The Long Run,” and their performance with Utah country singer Kenadi Dodds.

The beloved event continues to grow, with a total of 55 vendors, both commercial and food, who attended the fair, an increase of 20 vendors from the previous year.
The fair is organized by the Bannock County Fair Board, a group of community members appointed by the Board of County Commissioners, who are assisted with help from county employees and dedicated volunteers.

“We are so grateful to all of the entertainment acts, vendors, and volunteers who made this amazing event possible. But most of all, we’d like to thank the citizens of Bannock County for their continued support,” said Sheldon Barfuss, a member of the Bannock County Fair.
“It was great to be back at the Bannock County Fair and see all the familiar, friendly faces and some new faces, too. We’re proud to support the fair and thankful to all the people who help make this happen,” said Bannock County Commissioner Ernie Moser.
The Fair Board would also like to congratulate the winners of the 4H competition, who are listed below.
